Day 12 - The Northern Lights

We were chilling in our room, watch 911 reruns and the football game, when the call came through that the lights had been sighted off the starboard side of the ship. I immediately jumped for our balcony, on the port side. Sigh! After a quick lesson on port means left (4 letters) and starboard is rightside (9 letters) we hit the Explorer’s Lounge which has a wraparound outside walkway! And OMG! The colors! You can’t see them with the naked eye. You have look through the phone’s camera. We could see a green tinge but nothing like what shows up in the iPhone pictures.

It was a bit awkward to be in the Explorer’s Lounge in pjs with sweatshirts. But when the call comes in, you have to go with it, regardless what you are wearing. People were air dropping pictures and it was a big party. I mean no one thought we had a chance after missing the best viewing places and then there they were in all their glory!
