Day 0 - DFW

We are embarking on a different journey this trip. We are in search of the Aurora Borealis and we are willing to go to the Arctic Circle, in JANUARY, to find it. As always with us, it is not a direct route, lol.

We are headed to London today to pick up our ship on Friday. More on the ship on Friday!

We once again have the best house sitter staying in McKinney. Thanks to Holly who makes these journeys a LOT less stressful. Holly drove from Chicago and has encountered much of the weather blanketing the country. Luckily, she arrives in Texas just in time for more snow. I’ve told her it’s not like Illinois, don’t drive in it as Texans are not good at it, but think they are.

Since we are headed way north in January, we needed to update our wardrobes for cold 🥶 weather. We basically had nothing that was appropriate for this trip. Hello Amazon prime days. Buy it, try it on, keep it or send it back. Also, Viking rents wind pants and boots. Since both of those go over our own clothes, we are in! Plus the boots definitely allowed us to save space in our luggage. We are packed in one bag and backpack each. Unfortunately, I had to check my bag. Martha wins the packing game again. But how could I decide which shirt should be under four layers of outerwear. I need options!!!!!

Since we are on an international flight, we were invited to the fancier AA “Flagship” lounge. A glass of champagne was waiting as we walked in the door. The food is braised beef and smoked salmon. Even the wines are a higher quality. We could get used to this. However the Boston lounge is still the best ever as you can board your plane directly from the lounge. That was nice!

Also, for those who’ve followed our past travels, we made it through security unscathed!

DFW temperature is a balmy 38 degrees.

The four rotating German Shepherd guard dogs helping Holly secure your home was a nice touch. I am sure she appreciates that.
